The forecast indicates extreme to exceptional surpluses throughout many western states, as well as in states outside the continental United States. Some intense deficits are expected in Florida and the Pacific Northwest, as well as areas of Alaska.

The forecast through May 2023 indicates severe to extreme surpluses to continue throughout western states of the Continental U.S., including central to northeastern Nevada, central California, southeastern Idaho, northern Nebraska, and western Colorado. Surpluses in the southwestern states are expected to persist throughout November 2023 or longer.

The forecast through April 2023 indicates severe to extreme surpluses to continue throughout western states of the Continental U.S., including central Nevada, central California, southeastern Idaho, and western Colorado.

The forecast through March 2023 indicates intense surpluses throughout the northeastern states, southern Idaho, eastern-central Nevada, and west-central Utah. Deficits in central Idaho near the Salmon River Mountains are also expected to linger.

The forecast through February 2023 indicates extreme to exceptional water deficits near the Idaho Rockies and in the Central Plains. Deficits nearly as intense are forecast in northern Florida. Exceptional surpluses are forecast in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
