The forecast through May indicates persistent, intense water surpluses from Northeast China through the North China Plain and much of the Yellow River Basin. Areas with a forecast of deficit include Shanghai to Three Gorges Dam, South Korea, and southern Japan.

The forecast through April indicates persistent, widespread, intense water surpluses in Northeast China and the Yellow River Basin. Deficits in Southeast China will nearly disappear. Deficits will emerge in South Korea and southern Japan; surpluses in North Korea will downgrade.

The forecast through March indicates widespread, intense water surpluses from Northeast China through the Yellow River Basin and in North Korea. Deficits in Southeast China will shrink but anomalies in Guangdong will become exceptional.

The forecast through February 2022 indicates widespread, extreme to exceptional water surpluses from Northeast China through the North China Plain and much of the vast Yellow River Basin, as well as in the northern Yangtze Basin and North Korea. Deficits in Southeast China will shrink.

The forecast through January 2022 indicates persistent, widespread water surpluses in Northeast China, the Yellow River Basin, the northern Yangtze Basin, and North Korea. Deficits will persist in Guangdong. In Japan, widespread surplus conditions will change to deficit.
