Widespread water deficits are expected in France, northern Italy, northern Germany, along with many pockets elsewhere in continental Europe. Deficits will be exceptional in central Sweden and the Baltic region. Areas of surplus include the United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, and European Russia.

The forecast through January 2023 indicates that water deficits will shrink and downgrade but remain widespread, particularly in France, Spain, Italy, the Baltics, and Sweden. Surpluses will emerge throughout Norway.

The forecast through December indicates that water deficits will shrink and downgrade considerably. Anomalies will be widespread, however, from northern Spain through much of France south of the Allier River and in northern Italy.

The forecast through November indicates that water deficits will shrink and downgrade but remain widespread, particularly from France through Germany and in southern Scandinavia. Areas with intense deficits include Slovakia, central Sweden, and surrounding Lake Geneva.
